1) Sellers of inexpensive items may benefit from inflating the shipping cost while lowering the starting price for their auctions, because some buyers overlook the shipping cost when calculating the amount they are willing to spend.
2) If, in a Reserve Listing, the bidder bids an amount lower than the reserve, the bid will increment up according to the rules for proxy bidding. Though the amount for "currently" will increase accordingly, the reserve indication will remain "reserve not met".
3) An eBay account (whether seller, buyer or both) may be suspended if there are too many complaints against the account holder.
4) In the case where a tie bid is submitted, then the bid that was submitted first wins the auction.
5) Paying by cheques and money orders: This is payment the old-fashioned way, and will lead to a long wait to your item. You need to post the cheque or money order, then the seller has to take it to the bank and get it cleared, and only then do they send the item. The only reason to use this method is if either you or the seller distrusts electronic payment methods. If you're willing to go to the trouble with these sellers, though, you might get an item very cheaply, as most buyers just can't be bothered. When you use a money order or check to pay, make sure to print the eBay order confirmation page (it will be emailed to you) and insert it into the envelope with your payment. Underline or circle important information like your mailing address and the item number. Finally, remember to have patience: keep in contact with the seller, as it really can take a month or two before everything comes together and your item turns up.
Over the years, eBay has introduced all sorts of different auction types, in an effort to give people more options when they buy and sell their things on eBay. Large international companies, such as IBM, sell their newest products and offer services on eBay using competitive auctions and fixed-priced storefronts.
A Tidbit of eBay History:
