Useful Hints to Lead You with Saving Money on eBay:

1) Auction sniping is the process of watching a timed online auction, and placing a winning bid at the last possible moment (often literally seconds before the end of the auction), giving the other bidders no time to outbid the sniper.

2) Do not bid on items that do not accept the payment method that you prefer. Or, at the very least, email the seller and ask them if they would accept that type of payment before you place your bid.

3) If you want to pay a fixed price then there are thousands of online stores you could be visiting. It's like pressing 'collect' instead of 'gamble' on a fruit machine: it's the boring option. But then, maybe that's what you want. These rules are relatively constant: there are few times when using Buy it Now would allow you to get something cheaper, or when bidding would be an easier way to do it. In the end, as with so many things in life, it's a simple question of price vs. convenience, and it's up to you. There are those times, though, when the strategic use of the Buy it Now button can be a useful tool to help you outwit your competition. If the current bid is almost as high as the Buy it Now price, then why bid higher and keep the contest going?

4) Try browsing the eBay categories. eBay places all items that are on auction in the eBay category hierarchy. The top categories remain stable, but there are always new sub-categories showing up. You will find the top-level categories on the main eBay home page. From there you can drill down to the lowest level sub-category to find items very neatly grouped into very focused topics.

5) You can always tell if a listing has a Reserve Price by the indication next to the "Currently" amount, which will state either "reserve not yet met" or "reserve met".

Millions of collectibles, appliances, computers, furniture, equipment, vehicles, and other miscellaneous items are listed, bought, and sold daily. Large international companies, such as IBM, sell their newest products and offer services on eBay using competitive auctions and fixed-priced storefronts.

A Tidbit of eBay History:

eBay also owns PayPal, Skype, and other businesses.
