Tips to Lend a Hand to You with Bidding on eBay:

1) Your reputation as a buyer (or 'feedback rating') is the most important thing people see when they deal with you on eBay.

2) Sellers won't generally be reluctant to sell to buyers without much of a reputation, simply because it is the buyer who takes most of the risk in a transaction.

3) If you win an auction and you've made certain assumptions without clarifying them with the seller, what is written in the item description rules.

4) eBay is an easy place for unscrupulous sellers to market counterfeit merchandise, which can be difficult for novice buyers to distinguish without careful study of the auction description.

5) When a user feels that a seller or buyer has been dishonest, a dispute can be filed with eBay.

Large international companies, such as IBM, sell their newest products and offer services on eBay using competitive auctions and fixed-priced storefronts. Over the years, eBay has introduced all sorts of different auction types, in an effort to give people more options when they buy and sell their things on eBay.

Did You Know?

On 14 June 2005, eBay removed auction listings for originally free tickets to the Live 8 charity auction amid hundreds of complaints about such auctions.
