Information to Lead You with Buying Items on eBay:

1) Do not get caught in a bid chasing race. Decide what is the maximum you want to pay for an item and enter that as your maximum amount. If you happen to lose the auction, remember that it is a large market and similar items appear often.

2) Each time a category is updated, items that were listed after the previous update are added to the top of both the Featured and All Items sections. Items are added to the top of each list and are scrolled down and onto the next page as new items are added.

3) Most buyers on eBay are casual, and don't know what they're doing: a little knowledge can go a long way in getting you an advantage.

4) You should take up any issues with the seller - most will be responsive, as they do not want to have their reputation damaged when an upset buyer leaves negative feedback for all their future buyers to see.

5) The more unethical person might have considered that you could just cancel bids anytime you feel like it by saying that you accidentally entered the wrong amount. eBay are one step ahead of you. Each time you retract a bid, it is counted on your feedback page for all to see - and anyone with a lot of retracted bids looks more than a little dodgy. eBay also say that abusing the bid retraction feature could get you banned.
